FORKS AND SPOONS FOR WAR PRISONERS

INCLUSION IN PARCELS PERMITTED

WELLINGTON, January 16. -'The Prisoners, of War Inquiry Office anhoTOC«SM£'tin or bakelite plates and ordinary forks and spoons may be included in next-of-kin parcels, but knives are still prohibited. Two further additional lists regarding Britishers interned at, or evacuated from, Malaya can be inspected at the Prisoners of War Office and the offices of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the Red Cross throughout the Dominion.

More than 220 acknowledgements of quarterly parcels have been received from German camps this week. Next of kin are requested to include in quarterly parcels a yard of calico cloth or clean sacking to provide outside wrapping for parcels. Woollen sets containing one heavy Army jersey and three pairs of Army socks are now available for men in German camps. Next of kin who , desire to include a set in a quarterly parcel are requested to write to headquarters, 96 Tory street, Wellington.

Khaki shirts for men in Italian camps will be available at the end of January. The name and address of the prisoner must be given in applying, also the size. Applications will be acknowledged when the office is in a position to advise the cost and give instructions as to the method of purchase. The total of prisoners is still just over 8000.
