STANDARD OF YOUTH EDUCATION
UNIVERSITY COLLEGES’ REQUIREMENTS
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, January 16. Allegations that the standard of education among young people was not up to that required for beginning certain university courses were referred to by the Chancellor of the Senate (the Hon. J. A. Hanan), who said he had heard from professors and others attached to the university colleges that there was evidence of a low standard of education among many pupils leaving secondary schools. A letter from Professor F. W. G. "White, of Canterbury University College, was read by the Vice-Chancellor (Sir Thomas Hunter) as convener of Ihe executive committee.
