BRIBE OFFERED TO CONSTABLE
FINE OF £lO IMPOSED (PA.) DUNEDIN, Dec. 11 On the unusual charge of offerin'* a bribe to a police constable, Stanley Robert Phillips was fined £lO in the Police Court to-day. The charge arose out of a further allegation against the defendant of having had liquor near a dance hall, on which charge he was acquitted.
It was stated in evidence that Phillips offered the constable £l, saving; “Tills will fix it.” in which the ‘constable replied: "I£ you think my job is worth £l, jou have another think coming.
