MAGISTRATE’S COURT
FRIDAY (Before Mr F, F, Reid, S.M.) THEFT OF BICYCLE William Thomas Brown, a labourer, aged 61, charged with the theft of a bicycle valued at £2, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. Sub-Inspector Turner said that the accused was an old offender at stealing bicycles and had six previous convictions. TRAFFIC BREACHES
For having no warrant of fitness Arthur Waller Andrews was fined 15s. For having no warrant of fitness and driving a motor-car without sufficient lights Lamour McCullough was fined 10s on each charge.
For riding a bicycle on the footpath Robert Gordon Aplin was fined ss. For riding a cvclc at night without a light Robert Main was fined 20s, and Phyllis Sibley. John Spring, and Sydney Thorpe 10s each. For parking a motor-vehicle over a fire-plug in Cathedral square Daniel James Drummond was fined 10s.
For driving a motor-car at night without lights Ivan Henry Turner was fined 20s.
For driving a motor-car without due care and attention Ronald James Robert Sutton was fined £2. (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) BREACHES OF AWARD
The Inspector of Awards proceeded against Robert A. Brown, trading as Brown Brothers, alleging three breaches of the New Zealand Milk Pasteurising and Bottling Factories Award in that (1) he did employ an adult and did fail to pay him the award rate of wages; (2) he failed to record in the wages and time book particulars rcciuircd by the award: and (3) he failed to provide time sheets as required by the award. On the tirst charge a penalty of £1 was imposed. and on each of the others 10s.
