SPENDING BELOW ESTIMATES
HALF-YEARLY RETURNS Expenditure on various works by tW Christchurch City Council for the first six months of the financial year, ended September 30, was below the estimate, the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) SSJQ yesterday. In the period, the work] committee spent £74,'162, the estimated expenditure for the six months being £82.108. Mr Andrews explained w 1 a “good deal” of works for whipn provision had been made in the esti* mates had not been completed.
