A PLEA
Sir, —A few words in “The Press” of Saturday, November 21, might well serve as an appeal to those who could help with the war effort, but do not, to pacifists, to parsons, to profiteers, to politicians, yes, and to our military leaders, here and elsewhere. Simple, yet poignant, they contain in themselves a plea, a warning, and a command to all civilisation. These words conclude a memorial notice for one of our young countrymen, who gave his all in Libya one year ago. “Let not this young and lovely life be sacrificed in vain.”—Yours, etc., E.A.I. November 23, 1942.
