There was a large attendance at the opening of the Spreydon .Amateur Swim-, ming Club’s season on Saturday. Results were as follows: —Learners' width —Boys: T. McGowan 1, R. Beckensale 2. Girls: June Woods 1. A. Annatt 2. 25 Yards novice race —Girls: Helen Howard 1, Ellen Ferguson 2; time, 26sec. Boys: Theo Detfort 1. Rex May 2: time. 27sec. 25 Yards girls' handicap: D. Tritt 1, A. Milner 2, C. Thomas 3; time, 24sec. 25 Yards boys’ handicap; N. McDonald 1, Thomas and McGowan (dead heat) 2; time, 23 2-ssec. 100 Yards scratch race: C. Chambers 1, R. Ayling 2; time. 71sec. 50 Yards junior boys’ handicap; T. Walklin 1, N. McDonald 2, J. Boswell 3; time. 37 4-ssec. Backstroke scratch race: M. Tonkin 1, K. McKenzie 2, C. Chambers 3; time, 14 l-ssec.
