LAY REPRESENTATION SOUGHT The Canterbury Education Board decided at its last meeting. on the motion of Mr S. Baird, that the Minister of Education be requested to include representation of primary and district high school teachers on the secondary | schools syllabus revision committee re-1 cently appointed. | It was also suggested that the Min- j iSter should give representation to lay-; men. ; "No sound beginning can be made : with secondary education unless primary and secondary teachers co-operate for that purpose,” declared Mr Baird, when moving his resolution. Mr A. E. Lawrence said it was essential that lay people interested in edu- 1 cation shou'd be represented. “As a matter of fact, they are just as vitallv interested as anyone else.” he added, “and it must not be forgotten that they i foot the bill for education.”
