WOODHAM PARK FETE
* £2OO RAISED FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS More than £2OO was raised for psttj' otic purposes at Woodham Park on 5K* urday afternoon when the Linwowj Avonside Patriotic Association held i“ annual fete. Between 2000 and people were present, and freely paW* nised the stalls conducted by member* of the association, and sideshows con* ducted by members of the suburban committees of. the Christchurch W* turned Services’ Association. - Woodham Park has been in use about 12 months, but it had not bew opened officially until Saturday aW*' noon, when the ceremony was w" formed by the Mayor (Mr E. H. An* drews), who unveiled an inKribea stone. The ceremony was preceded by a parade of Girl Guides and children in fancy dress, headed by the St. drew’s College Pipe Band, and tne Burnham Military Band, which playw selections during the afternoon. Other speakers at the ceremony were the Mayoress (Miss E. Couzms). the chairman of the City Council re* serves committee (Cr. J. N. ClarKej. the president of the Linwood-Ayon* side Patriotic Association (Mr J, Sargent), the chairman (Mr H. Smout), and the Superintendent » City Reserves (Mr M. J. Barnett).
