CURRENT NOTES

Mrs M. M. Dreaver, M.P., who has been visiting Greymouth and Hokitika, will return to-day to Christchurch. Friends of Mrs David Hutcheson will be interested to hear of her safe arrival in Scotland. Mrs Hutchespn, who was formerly Miss Norma Davidson, of Christchurch, has been nursing with the Queen Alexandra Imperial Military Service in Egypt for more than two years. Her husband, Lieutenant D. Hutcheson, of Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, was taken prisoner in’ Tobruk last May. The St. John Ambulance Association recently-held a hygiene and sanitati n test in Sumner, which resulted in a 100 per cent, pass for the class. The members who sat the, examination were Miss J. Jamieson (hon.), Miss C. Tulloch (hon.), Miss I. Williams (hon.), Mrs H. Alexander (hon.), Mesdames E. Shearman, E. W. Arnold, A. L. Ballard, M. Bodle, M. Guilford, D. Jonathan, M. Low, E. M. Nicholls, D. E. Millar, J. R. Sleeman, E. Stephens, N. Smith, F. B. Welch, M. Wood, Misses M. Evans and E. Mulholland. Members of the division who took their obstetric V.A. training were Mesdames H. Garrard, E, Shearman, E. M. Nicholls, E. Owen, M. Walters, M. Guilford, J. R. Sleeman, F. B. Welch, M. Low H. Alexander, Misses C. Tulloch and B. Gough. A donation, with which to provide comforts for men of the Merchant Navy, will.be given by Mrs A. C. Sandston, from the proceeds of a musicale given at her home, "VenlaW,” St. Andrews Hill, in aid of the funds of the Harmonic Society’s Women’s Auxiliary, of which she is president. The programme was provided by Mesdames J. C. Cullman, C. Cogswell, C.
