FINANCIAL AID TO SOLDIERS
COMMITMENTS TO DATE TOTAL £371,032
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 21. The total commitments tv date approved by the Soldiers’ Financial Assistance Board are £371,032. This figure was announced by the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, who said that last month the board received 1162 further applications for assistance, making the total number received to date 13,607. During the month 1207 applications were dealt with, and assistance to the value of £31,742 was granted. This amount brought the total commitments to date to £371,032. The actual amount paid out in cash last month, said Mr Armstrong, was £19,957. Total cash payments to date were £179,529 12s 3d.
