AXIS PRISON CAMPS
* CHANGES OF NAMES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 19. Headquarters of the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office have been advised that Stalag 13D has had its designation changed to 188, and next-of-kin concerned are instructed to use the new title.
The International Red Cross advises that the names by which Italian camps were previously known, such as Mont Albo, Grupplgnano, etc,, are not now used. Addresses must bear the camp numbers, and the Italian authorities have announced that if the numbers are not .correctly used the parcels ’will returned to the senders. The Prisoners of War Office censoring department will take every care that parcels leaving the depots are correctly addressed. Advice by cablegram states that the Red Cross dispatched 3200 pairs of boots to Stalag 8B in March, 7840 pairs in April, and 4041 in May. The number of prisoners officially notified is now 6567, unofficial five. The office is constantly in touch with the Middle East, Geneva, and London in regard to men missing in the Egyptian campaign, and everything possible is being done to provide comforts for new prisoners.
