OBITUARY
MR W. E. BARTON A well-known Rangiora resident, Mr William Edward Barton, died recently at the home of his brother at Redcliffs. He was 83 years of age. Mr Barton was born in England and was educated at Winchester. quite young he came to New Zealand and settled in Wanganui, where he joined the staff of the Bank of New Zealand. He was later transferred to the bank at Kaikoura and on December 4, 1906, became manager of the Rangiora branch. After 14 years' service he retired and continued to live in ’ Rangiora. MR A. P. PROCTOR (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) APIA, Sept. 19. Mr Arthur Percy Proctor, accountant to Messrs Morris, Hedstrom, Ltd., Apia, died suddenly on September 17, at the age of 48. Before joining Messrs Morris, Hedstrom, Ltd., at Levuka, Fiji, as shipping clerk in 1917, Mr Proctor was employed by the New Zealand and Fiji Governments in the Post and Telegraph Department. From July, 1926 to October, 1933, Mr Proctor filled important positions in subsidiary companies of Morris, Hedstrom, Ltd., ;^2 U ? hOUt the Fi ji group. In October 1933, he arrived at Apia as accountant! He is survived by Mrs Proctor, who lives in New Zealand, and by two sons, k. Sr are serving with the Zealand forces.
