The week-end was unusually busy at the Welcome Club. On Saturday, the firm of Taylors, Cleaners and Dyers, entertained more than 500 men of the armed forces at afternoon tea and tea, and after the usual dance in the evening, the Women’s Auxiliary of St, John Ambulance served supper. Yesterday, the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association provided afternoon tea, tea, and supper for about 530 men. A concert programme was organised by Mrs R. J.
