R.N.Z.A.F. RUGBY TEAM
FIXTURES IN ENGLAND (Rec. 9,30 p.m.) LONDON. Sept. IT. The Royal New Zealand Air Force Rugby football fifteen, captained by Pilot Officer Eric Grant, has arranged 12 fixtures in the coming season, beginning with a match against the Wasps, one of England's oldest clubs, at Sudbury, on October 3. Fixtures include matches against the Welsh Guard on October 31, against the New Zealand Army on January 16. A combined Australian and New Zealand team will play South Wales at Swansea on February 13. The Royal New Zealand Air Force may also enter a team in the Middlesex seven-a-side tournament. Six of last season’s players included in the team against the Wasps are:--Pilot Officer Grant, as wing threequarter; Flight Lieutenant N. Lawrence, five-eighths; Sergeants C. Saundercock, G. Sampson, Corporal T. Blomfield, and Flight Sergeant S. Wells as forwards. Newcomers include a cricketer, Pilot Officer R. W. G. Emery, us lull-back. He played outstandingly tor the team, which last season won the Royal Air Force inter-station championship. Sergeant G. A. McDonald, of Dunedin, is being tried out as centre three-quarter, and Pilot Officer K. S. Leigh as hooker.
