GOODS CARRIAGE

CHRISTCHURCH DISTRICT CONTROL ALL VEHICLES COVERED A declaration has been made by the Christchurch Goods Transport Control Committee making illegal the carnage of goods for hire or reward by motor vehicles in the district without the permission of the committee. “Ancillary users will, of course, be controlled by the zoning officer (Mr T. H. Langford),” said Mr A. Hazleton, chairman of the committee, yesterday. “Any person, carrying for hire or reward, whether under the licensing authority or not. will come under the control of the committee. Ultimately the decision will affect all retail establishments delivering goods. They will come under the zoning officer.’ A direction has been issued by the committee that for the present all persons affected by its regulations will be permitted to carry on their operations, but Mr Hazleton explained that that permission may be withdrawn, either wholly or in part, at any time, public notice to be given.
