CAUCASUS FRONT LONDON, August 12. The latest messages indicate that the German drive in the Caucasus is slowing down. ’ Though Moscow confirms that fighting is now going on in the , foothills round Cherkesk, messages say that two attacks have been beaten off and that Soviet reserves are moving up east of ' the town. “Red Star” says that in the Maikop area repeated counter-attacks have slowed down the enemy advance, though the position at Krasnodar is more serious.
