OFFICIAL FORECASTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON. August 12. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows; Moderate to fresh north-easterly winds, becoming strong at times on the coast. Weather cloudy, with scattered fog and drizzle, mainly on the coast. Temperatures moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh northerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain or drizzle at times. Temperatures moderate.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day In Christchurch yesterday was fine, with more than eight hours of sunshine. A frost of 2.1 degrees was recorded.
