MISS p. J. LILLY \ l Miss Franctg j u u a Lilly, who died V, gitiy in at the age of 'keeks of her death. She \Pds born in Gloucester, England, and - spent three years of her early life in Washington, United before coming to New Zealand with her parents in the ship Lady Jocelyn. For many years she was known in Dunedin as a singer and was well known for her practical interest in church music. She lived for many years in Christchurch and was much loved by her large number of friends. She is survived by one sister and three brothers, MRS MARY ANN BLAKEMORE The death took place in Christchurch recently of Mrs Mary Ann Blakemore at the age of 84 years. Mrs Blakemore was born in Bristol, and with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Parish, came to Lyttelton in the ship John Small in 1860, after a journey lasting six months. She well remembered walking through the Lyttelton tunnel the day it was opened. Her father was a veteran of the Crimean War, and helped in- the construction of the tunnel. Mr and Mrs Blakemore had 15 children, 11 of whom are still living, and there are 57 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mr and Mrs Blakemore, who celebrated their diamond wedding several years ago, were well known in .the Springston district, where they had lived for 40 years. Goodman presided at me monthly meeting of the Bryndwr Women's Institute. There was a good attendance of members, and several handed in garments which they had made for children in distressed areas. One new member was enrolled, and an Instructive demonstration was given oy Mrs Mauger.
