RATIONING IN DOMINION
“ REMARKABLY FREE FROM BLACK MARKETING” (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 24. "So faf We have been remarkably free from black market operations, in New Zealand,” said the Dominion Rationing • Controller (Mr J. E. Thomas) to-day. Some complaints had been received, but investigation had shown them to be without foundation. In the early stages, he said, there had been some infringement of the law, but they had been the result of misunderstanding or lack of knowledge. Complaints sometimes originated from retailers, who were informed by prospective purchasers that they were able to buy certain rationed goods without coupons at other establishments.
