Sir Harry Luke, who has relinquished the position of Governor of Fiji, is visiting Auckland. The Hon. S. G. Holland, Minister in Charge of War Expenditure, returned to Christchurch last evening. Archbishop West-Watson has returned from the North Island. The degree of B.Ag.Sc. has been conferred on Arthur A. Dunlop, of Canterbury Agricultural College.—(P.A.) Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., has returned from Wellington. Mr A, R. Jordan, District Public Trustee, Christchurch, has left for Wellington on departmental business. He expects to return at the end of next week. Mr C, S. Hammond, president of the. Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, has arrived back from Wellington. Count Wodzicki, Consul-General for Poland, arrived in Christchurch last evening. Mr W. J. A. McGregor, chairman of Bluff Harbour Board, will represent the board at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Harbour Boards’ Association in Wellington next week. A decision to retain the services of the Town Clerk of Auckland (Mr J. Melling) and the City Engineer (Mr J. Tyler), who will shortly reach the retiring age of 05, has been made by the Auckland City Council. Mr G. A. Monk, of Reikorangl, has been appointed vice-president of the New Zealand Counties' Association. Mr J. D. Carruthers, of Hamua, Pahiatua, has been appointed to the executive.
