CLAIMS AGAINST THE ARMY

Sir,—Your sub-leader in to-day's issue “Claims Against the Army” makes timely reading. As one involved in a traffic accident with an Army vehicle, the writer shares your opinion, being reminded by the erstwhile soldier-driver that there was a war on and he was in a hurry. I secured documentary evidence—a transport officer’s report—against the Amy, but no settlement for damages was made, merely some hedging and finally a letter advising that it was then too late to lay a charge. Two solicitor’s letters were then .sent, now more than six months ago, and neither communication has received departmental acknowledgement.—Yours, etc.. VICTIM. July 18, 1942.
