CRIMINAL LIBEL ALLEGED
NEW YORK, April 28. A message from Concord, Massachusetts, states that Edward Htolton James, a nephew of the noted writers, William and Henry Jaimes, is held on bail of 10,000 dollars on a charge of criminally libelling Mr Roosevelt in his publication, “Yankee Freeman,” in which he demanded Mr Roosevelt’s resignation and collaboration with the Axis. James pleaded that he was innocent and said that gaol was a place of honour to enter with joy. James’s publication said that Mr Roosevelt’s policy was subversive of Yankee tradition from’ the moment he handed over the 50 destroyers to Britain. Mr Roosevelt, day. by. day> had fomented., war and. had •.nptottefcswars against nations which had done' him no harm.
James branded Mr Roosevelt a “blood-stained assassin of our soldiers and sailors.”
