MAXIMUM PRICES IN AMERICA
* (Received April 29, 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 28, The United States Government has announced that price ceilings will become effective on May 18 on almost everything Americans eat, wear, and use. Nearly all prices charged by retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and producers of raw materials will be covered. The only important exclusions will be certain food products, such as fish, fresh fryit, and vegetables. The ceiling prices in general will be the highest prices charged during March, 1942, by each individual seller. For sales by manufacturers, producers, and wholesalers and services rendered to consumers, the ceiling prices apply on May 11. Prices can be lower than the ceilings, as low as the seller wishes.
