TREATMENT OF REFUGEES
Sir, —There is yet another side to this question on aliens—that of love and hate, among people, among nations. We live in a world of hates. We hate Germany, we hate Japan, we hate Italy, and many hate even Russia. Now we are hating refugees. Most adept in the art of hating have we become. We are suspicious and unfriendly not only toward aliens but among ourselves. How can international friendships and co-operation possibly thrive? There will never be peace in the world until we practise goodwill. Driven into close co-operation with one another, the Jews have, by their intelligence, succeeded. We resent this from feelings of jealousy and seek retribution by denying them the use of their talents. Let those who are ablest take the lead in every sphere of life —whether alien or native, Jew or Gentile.—Yours, etc., S.M. April 27, 1942.
