APPEALS FOR E.P.S. WORKERS

Appeals for E.P.S. workers considered essential who may be drawn in ballots will be made in Christchurch, according to the chief warden (Mr E. H. Andrews), who said yesterday that until now it had been the policy of the organisation not to appeal. However,

changed circumstances had made the E.P.S. an important part of the defence organisation, and at the same time ballots of married men were removing some of the key personnel. Mr Andrews mentioned that among the classes he had in mind were men who had ueen specially trained for fire-fighting. The E.P.S, did not want to lose their services.
