U.S. DESERTERS CAPTURED
# GOVERNMENT AGENT KILLED (Received March 15, 8 p.m.) NEW YORK. March 13. Two army deserters who shot and killed one agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and seriously wounded another were captured in an abandoned house at Abingdon. Virginia, today. More than 100 Federal, State, and local officers surrounded the house. A number of shots were exchanged before tear gas forced the deserters out. The Federal Bureau of Investigation allege that the soldiers stole a supply of pistols and ammunition from Fort Ogelthorpe before escaping. Later they kidnapped a taxi driver, and escaped to Tennessee. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation traced them to a cafe, but the soldiers, still in uniform, blazed away at them as soon as the agents identified themselves. One agent called Tracey was killed instantly, and one called Tignor was seriously wounded. In the resulting confusion the soldiers escaped, but later were captured here
