The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate south-westerly to southerly winds occasionally freshening. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cool. Further outlook fair to fine. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is as follows: — Light to moderate south-westerly winds. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was cold and wintry, with rain and a strong southerly wind. There were a few hours of sunshine before end after midday. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and there was a moderate south-westerly wind. The barometer at 30.55 inches (1034.5 millibars) was rising.
