♦ DRIVE FOR NATIONAL SAVINGS An effort to boost national savings will be made in Lyttelton this month, when a “Bonds for Bombers” week will be held. The drive in the town will be made in conjunction with a Do-minion-wide campaign, and will open on March 23. The national savings committee will meet soon to draw up plans for the drive in the town. ■ The weekly quota for Lyttelton is £232, and that figure has been exceeded only twice. There are 24 national savings groups in the town, with a total of 245 subscribers. The number oi depositors, both group and individual, totals 545. * Trial Alarm at School

To ascertain how long it would take for children to get home in the event of an emergency, a trial air-raid alarm was given yesterday morning at the Lyttelton Borcugh School. Parties of children of various streets were placed under the charge of senior boys and girls who were responsible for their safe arrival at home. The trial was reported to be very satisfactory.
