OFFICIAL FORECASTS (P.S.S.I WELLINGTON, January 19. The weather forecast for Canterbury. Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the lime of issue, is as follows:--Light to moderate variable winds generally, with fine weather. Easterly sea breezes, freshening during the dav on the coast, with cloudy weather. Milder temperatures. Further outlook fair. WEST COAST The forecast for (he West Coast of the South Island is as follows: Light to moderate variable winds. Weather fine and mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine but overcast for most of the day, with a light south-west wind. The maximum tcmperatuVc was 61.3 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was still a light south-west wind. The barometer at 30.32 inches (1026.8 millibars) was still rising.
