“FLOOD” OF TANKS ARRIVING
(Received November 9, 9.30 p.m.) (U.P.A.) LONDON, November 8. British sources in Ankara state that in view of the threat to the Caucasus, the British forces in Iran are being steadily augmented by Imperial troops, besides American tanks and aeroplanes, A “flood” of British and American tanks is reaching Iran and Iraq, reports a correspondent of the British United Press from Ankara. The movement of artillery, tanks, and motorised units into Syria, Iraq, and Iran is so great that it is monoplising transport. The Government of Iran has initialled the revised text of the alliance with England and Russia. The Premier said the agreement did not give the Allies the right of intervention in Iran’s military and political affairs or power to force the army to fight on the side of the Allies. The Government was collaborating with the Allies ip order to assure the country’s interests after the war. It was relying on the Atlantic Charter concerning the liberty and independence of all peoples.
