INSURANCE FOR WAR DAMAGE
AN ALTERNATIVE PLAN
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL. Nov. 7. An alternative plan for war oam?g«J insurance to that provided in the war Damage Act was proposed at the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce to-day. A remit proposed by Mr M. G. C. McCaui (executive) was as follows: “That this conference, (a) ch sa P‘ proves of the principle embodied m the War Damage Act. whereby a premium is charged and a substantial luna created in advance of the damage, an is of the opinion that it would na\ been better to have adopted a P«* whereby losses from enemy actio would be made 'good after the had been incurred, from the proceed of a levy to be made on all owners o insurable property, and (b) consider® that in the event of the premium principle being retained, no premium should be collected in advance of war damage, beyond the initial sum of a per £IOO of insurable property, to cover establishment expenses. It was stated that the sum would amount to £62,500.
