ISOLATIONISM IN U.S
INCREASING DANGERS AFFECT OPINION MR MACKENZIE KING’S STATEMENT (Received November 5, 12.45 a.m.) OTTAWA, November 4. Speaking at the resumption of the session of Parliament, the Prime Minister of Canada (Mr W. L. Mackenzie King) said that until the ghastly potentialities of the Germans’ military might were squarely faced in all quarters of the globe, humanity must go on suffering violence and bloodshed on an evergrowing scale. He pointed out that the ever-increas-ing dangers had brought opinion in the United States to the point where the mirage of isolation was disappearing and even a nominal maintenance of neutrality ceased to be part of the national policy. A message from Washington says it is reported that Mr Roosevelt and Mr Mackenzie King, at the week-end, discussed economic and financial • cooperation of far-reaching importance. It is believed that Canada’s pressing problem of a growing shortage of dollar exchanges may be relieved by large American purchases in Canada and possible outright lend-leasg_aid. —r—
