GIRLS’ SPORTS AT TIMARU

By far the biggest crowd in years was present at Fraser Park on Saturday afternoon, when the Timaru girls’ inter-house sports were held In fine but overcast weather. The fixture, an annual one, was in every, way a success and a varied programme of events, efficiently conducted, provided the spectators with plenty of entertainment. . Twenty-seven teams, including seven from Christchurch, competed. ‘ A feature of the programme was the maze march display, which presented 200 girls, each in the colourful uniform of her business house or organisation, going through a series of intricate movements. The cup for the visiting team gaining most points was won by Riccarton Manufacturing Company. United and Victory tied for the trophy for the local team gaining most points.
