APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE

MANPOWER COMMITTEE’S DECISIONS i'he following reserved decisions have been issued by the Christchurch Manpower Committee. In all the cases mentioned, with the exception of those of Arthur Ross Bussell, and Herbert John Murray, the appeals were lodged by the employers of the reservists named—in the other two cases, ' the appeals were by the reservists. Joseph Haughtop Byrne, clerk.—Dismissed, reservist not to start training before January I.* Donald McDonald, apprentice mechanical engineer.—Service in cadre to be postponed. Douglas Westcott Greer, agent for the New Zealand Loan .and Mercantile' Company, on Banks Peninsula.—Dismissed, conditionally on reservist being required to. carry out his training in October, 1 November and December. Arthur Ross Bussell, farmer.—Service in cadre to be postponed. Desmond John Moore.—Leave granted to withdraw, appeal being struck out. Gilbert G’eorge Woodhead, stockfood mixer.—Dismissed, conditionally on reservist not being required to start training before December 1, 1941. Maurice F. Gerard, clerk (against territorial training).—Dismissed on condition that reservist does not start training before January 1. Edwin Butler, public servant.—Service in cadre to be postponed following investigations by the Public Service Commissioner, the Director of National Service having recommended accordingly, Herbert Gordon Lochead, public servant (territorial training).—Appeal by Director of National Service dismissed on condition that the reservist does not enter camp before November 1, .1941. Herbert John Murray Williams.— Without the appellant being required to appear, the appeal against territorial training was allowed. James Gladstone Scott, a shepherd. —Appeal adjourned sine die. Robert Cedric Noonan, engineer,—lt was stated' that reservist had been in 9amp for six months.
