CANTERBURY CLUB MANY MEMBERS ON ACTIVE SERVICE Forty-two members of the Canterbury Rowing: Club are now on active service, according to a report presented at the annual meeting of the club, which was held last evening. Mr F. I. Cowlishaw presided. The report stated that the active, membership list had been seriously affected by demands for war service, whilp no doubt the uncertain times had combined to discourage and prevent many prospective new members from joining. Reference to school rowing was made by the club captain, Mr C. S. Hinton, who said that last season the dub had endeavoured to obtain schoolboy members. No reply had been received from the headmaster of Christchurch Boys* High School, but it was proposed to take up the subject again this season. Mr C. H. Clemens mentioned the number of members on active service, and said it was a record of which any club should be proud. There would be difficulties in holding the club together owing, to the war, but the only way to do it was to. get new members. • , Mr Cowlishaw said that in the last war 115 members had served with the armed decided to send congratulations to two members t l * 6 c’ub, FUght Lieutenant L.
