"" ♦ " FIELD EXERCISE AT EVANS PASS A field exercise in the hills near Evans Pass will be carried out by the 3rd Battalion, National Military Reserve, on Sunday. The men will move by motor transport from Christchurch, and the operations will be under active service conditions. For the purposes of the exercise, It will be assumed that enemy warships are in the Pacific, and that the battalion will take up battle positions in a certain area. Fifty-seven non-commissioned officers and selected privates of the battalion, and three officers, are at present receiving instruction at Burnham. The course will end this week.
