MOTOR LIGHTING RESTRICTIONS
♦ ' STRICT ENFORCEMENT ■ INSTRUCTIONS TO INSPECTORS The Commissioner of Transport has instructed the department’s inspectors strictly to enforce the motor vehicle lighting restrictions, according to a letter received by the Christchurch City Council. Traffic inspectors of local authorities are also being requested to assist in ensuring that tne regulations are observed The commissioner states that it is felt that more than sufficient time has now elapsed to enable owners to have their vehicle lights adjusted. . Complaints are, however, being received that in many districts a number of vehicles are not complying with the legal requirements. In .some instances fog lamps have been fitted to the vehicle, but many of these have been so fitted as to'cause considerable glare to other road users , nnr . He has now instructed his department’s traffic inspectors to enforce strictly the regulations on the roads controlled by the department where the restrictions apply. ... The council has replied that it will be pleased to co-operate in the enforcement of the regulations.
