Racing Pigeons Shot.—Valuable racing pigeons owned by members of the Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club have recently been shot at the Heathcote river estuary, where the birds go each morning to pick up grit and salt. The secretary of the club (Mr J. E. V. Maxwell) said yesterday that four of his birds, valued at £5 each, had been shot in the last week, and other members had also suffered. Mr Maxwell said that there is a maximum fine of £SO for anybody caught committing the offence.
