SEVERE EARTHQUAKE IN INDIA

LONDON, September 29. A report from Quetta in India stated that an earthquake shock of great intensity rocked Quetta this morning. The shock lasted 35 seconds. Another less intense shock occurred a minute later .and a third 20 minutes Jater. Houses were badly shaken and people rushed into the streets. There are no details of the casualties.

Thirty-five members of the recently, formed Lines-of-Communication Trans* port Company in North Canterbury took part on Sunday in the first of > Series of all-day training parades. A parade; was held, in the morning the Rangiora Drill Hall, and from there the company proceeded to the recreation ground, where instruction was given under the company commander (Mr L. E. Farr). The training included dismounted transport drill, revision of rifle exercises, and convoy work with trucks. The Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Oxford and Cust units were wellrepresented. Similar parades will o® held each fortnight.
