APPRENTICE JOCKEY KILLED THROWN FROM MOUNT DURING RACE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 28. Thrown from his mount, Irish Pearl, just as it was at the finishing post in the first race at the opening of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s spring meeting at Paeroa on Saturday, an apprentice jockey died at the Waikato Hospital this morning as a result of head injuries. The victim was Mostyn Morshead Poole, aged 16, of Tauranga. He had his first ride at the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s meeting at Te Aroha on the previous Saturday, when he took part in four races. KICKED BY HORSE Kicked on the head by a horse, a girl aged 16, K.Malthus, of 85 Clyde road, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital yesterday afternoon. Arthur Stokes, living at St. Albans, Christchurch, a jockey, was injured in a fall at the races at Geraldine to-day.
