BLANKETS TO BE SURRENDERED

GERMANS’ DEMAND TO NORWEGIANS GOTHENBURG, September 26. Terboven, the Nazi- administrator in Norway, has ordered all wool blankets except those in the northern districts of Norway to be surrendered by September 30 for the use of German troops in Russia. Persons not complying with the order are liable to imprisonment for three years. The Norwegian Director-General of Health (Lieutenant-Colonel Evang) said in London that this was a desperate and brutal step. The climate of Norway demands the heating of houses in many districts for eight months of the year. The Germans are unable to supply sufficient fuel for heating, and warm clothing and bedding are more necessary than ever, also in view of the lack of foodstuffs of high calorific content.
