OBITUARY
—♦ — MR J. W. SARGISSON The death has occurred at the Wairoa Hospital of one of the oldest members of Freemasonry in New Zealand, Mr John William Sargisson, at the age of 93 years. He was a foundation member and a past master of the Lodge Waikaremoana, Wairoa, and held many public positions in Wairoa including that of clerk of the old Wairoa Town Board and clerk of the Wairoa Harbour Board. He was also secretary for many years of the Wairoa Racing Club.
Flock House Funds.—The extension of the objects of the Flock House Fund to members of the Naval or Air Forces and the Mercantile Marine, who serve in the present war, and their dependants, is sought in the Local Legislation Bill. An explanatory note says that the trustees of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Acknowledgement of Debt to British Seamen Fund find that they will have certain funds available for that extension, after meeting all commitments arising out of the original Objects. It is noted that 819 of the Original subscribers to the fund had Indicated their agreement to a diversion of funds in that direction, that number practically exhausting the number of original donors now living. — P.R.
