♦- Word has been received by Mrs A. Larson that her son, Mr Arthur Larson, who is in the Merchant Navy, was on a vessel which was recently sunk by aerial bombing. The vessel lost 28 men out of 57, but Mr Larson was fortunate and arrived safely back in England. . Mr Will Appleton has been unanimously reelected chairman of the Board of Governors of the Wellington Technical College for the fourth successive term. Mr W. R. Carey was re-elected president of the South Island Motor Union at the annual meeting yesterday. The only change in the executive committee was the election of Mr R. Wilson (South Canterbury) in place of Mr A. Donaldson. Members of Parliament who returned from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning included Messrs C. Morgan Williams and T. H. McCombs. The Hon. J. K. Archer, the Hon.. G. R. Hunter, and the Hon. M. Connelly, members of the Legislative Council, were passengers from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr H. A. Young, S.M., returned from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr E. C. Champion will act as Crown representative with the Armed Forces Appeal Board which will leave for Nelson and Blenheim oh Monday.
