The congregation of St. Andrew’s Church, Te Awamutu, has unanimously decided to send a call to the Rev. L. Farquhar Gunn, of St. Ninian’s Church, Riccarton. Second-Lieutenant D. T. Costello has been selected for an ordnance unit of the Army Tank Brigade, and is to report to the Army School, Trentham, for the 9th 0.C.T.U., on October 4. The No. 3 District Transport Licensing Authority (Mr T. H. Langford) returned from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning. Messrs James Begg (Dunedin) and A. S. Holms (Waimahaka), members of the Meat Board, were through passengers for Wellington last night. Dr C. P. McMeekan, Professor of Agriculture at the Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, returned from the north by the steamer express yesterday morning. A resolution of sympathy with Mr R. B. Browning in the death of his wife was adopted at the annual meeting last of the United Bowling, Tennis, and Croquet Club. Professor F. A. Todd, processor of Latin at the University of Sydney, is visiting Auckland, He is the author of a well-known work on the ancient novel and books. In recognition of his long membership Mr p. J. O’Dwytx has been elected a life member of the Blenheim Farmers’ Union. Mr O’Dwyer has been connected with the union for more than 30 years,
