ECONOMY OF NEW ZEALAND
STABILISATION PLAN PERSONNEL OP COMMITTEE (P.R.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. An economic stabilisation committee of eight members, which will commence ■to operate immediately, was announced to-day by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser). The members are: Messrs F. D. Cornwell, A. T. Donnelly, A, McLagan, W. Marshall, C. V. Smith, and the Hon. R. Eddy, M.L.C. The Minister for Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) and the Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) will be the representatives of the Government on the committee. The Prime Minister said that one of the most important matters arising out of the Economic Stabilisation. Conference was the necessity for a continuous investigation and study by competent persons, to advise the Government on matters concerning the stabilisation of prices and incomes. The Government was pleased to be able to announce the appointment of members of an economic stabilisation committee. Mr Donnelly was acting-chairman of the Economic Stabilisation Conference and is chairman of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr Smith is president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association. and Mr Marshall is a member of the Dairy Industry Council, while Messrs McLagan, Eddy, and Cornwell are members of the New Zealand Federation of Labour.
