FREE PHYSICAL TRAINING

* CLASSES FOR MEN LIABLE FOR SERVICE

For the benefit particularly of men who will shortly be going into military camp, free training classes are being opened in the City Council testing station, Lichfield street, on Monday. The classes will be conducted by a competent instructor from the Physical Welfare Branch, Department of Internal Affairs.

The classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.15 p.m. to 6 p.m., and will be open to all men liable for military service, overseas, territorials, Home Guard, ' and to any men who want to get into better physical condition.

Many young men going from sedentary occupations to Army life have found the demands made on their physique very severe. The Minister for Defence (tne Hon. F. Jones) has, therefore, approved the proposal to establish free preliminary classes, which will. use. the. military training tables, so that men will be brought Into training gradually and thus avoid undue strain. By the time they are called up they .will find it much easier to adapt themselves, to their new mode of life. ''
