OFFICIAL FORECASTS

(P.S.S.) WELLINGTON, August 21. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate southerly winds predominating. Some further showers on the coast, hut weather otherwise fair. Temperatures cold.

WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate southerly winds. Weather fair to fine, and cool.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

The weather was overcast yesterday, With showers of misty rain. There was • light south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 46.4 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and a light southwest wind was blowing. The barometer was steady at SO.OSIn (1017.6 millibars).
