ACCIDENTS

MINE TRUCKER KILLED (0.H.) GREYMOUTH, August 6. Edward William Cutbush, aged 22, married, of Reefton, was killed this morning at the Peerless coal mine, about four miles from Reefton. Cutbush; a, trucker, was! struck on the head by a flying wire rope, which broke away on a jig. He received severe injuries, and died shortly after the accident. He had been employed rn the mine for several years, A native of the Reefton district, ,he was s' son of Mr and Mrs F. Cutbush, Reefton. QUARRYMAN’S DEATH

; While working,in a quarry at Goose Bay,yesterday morning, W. O’Connell, aged 54, a married man, of Oaro, was struck on the liead by a falling stone. He- received serious head injuries, including a fractured skull, and died in the Kaikoura Hospital at 10 o’clock last night.

CHILD SCALDED

• A two and a. half-year-old girl, Beverley Burnby, of Oaro, was admitted to the Kaikoura Hospital yesterday, suffering from extensive scalds, suffered when she pulled over a kettle of boiling water.

A territorial, Trooper Frederick E. W. Brooks, was admitted to the Kaikoura ' Hospital yesterday suffering from scalp wounds received when he fell from a lorry, north of Aniseed.

CYCLIST INJURED

William A, Tibbs, of 48 Carlton Mill road, suffered slight abrasions, ta the face when his cycle collided with a car driven by Ivan Allen .William Chapman, of 43 Tutton’s road, Papanui, at 10.55 p.m, yesterday. He was treated as an out-patient at the Public Hospital
