BUILDING PERMITS IN CITY
SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN SPREYDON Marked activity in the Spreydon district has brought the value of building licences issued in the city in July to £36,021, or £lßl9 more than in the corresponding month last year. The value of buildings for which licences were issued in Spreydon is £20,385, compared with £2948 last year. In all other wards in the city except > the outer central area the figures for July of this year are lower than last year s. For the four months of the financial year the value of buildings for which permits were issued was £123,173, compared with £171,596 in the corresponding period of 1940. In most wards the figures show a substantial decline, but again in the central outer area there Is an increase from £12,245 to £16,915, and in Spreydon from £19,569 to £32,693. Some of the more substantial declines are;— Central inner, £29,071 to £7812; St Albans, £53,397 to £36,007; Sydenham, £21,000 to £9065; and Woolstoa, £17.441 to £5331.
